In the healthcare environment, any quality improvement (QI) initiative requires careful
consideration of the issue, its implications for patient care, and for costs involved. For this first milestone in particular, you will address the QI implications of
your chosen issue. Evidence-based resources will be used to defend your responses and the safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and patient-centered
(STEEEP) care approach to resolving the issue will also be included. You will be expected to integrate any feedback from the milestones into your final written
paper.
Address the following critical elements in your Milestone One paper:
I. Introduction
a) Introduce your topic (care of psychiatric patients boarded in the emergency department ) and identify each of
the three corresponding actions that you selected to improve.
b) Defend with evidence the need to improve your topic and how such improvement advances patient care delivery. c) Analyze the identified need for improvement in terms of STEEEP care, being mindful that a single improvement can generate more than one
positive impact on care.
Guidelines for Submission: This paper should be 1–3 pages in length, not including the cover page or reference page. APA format is to be used for the reference
list and all internal citations. Include at least three scholarly research articles.
