An important aspect of student demographics is age or generation. In addition to traditional aged (18–22) students, colleges and universities are seeing an increase in students of non-traditional age enrolling both as new and returning students. Some institutions have seen the median age of their students rise into the late 20s and even early to mid 30s. Your Readings and Assignment for this unit addressed topics related to generations. Based on your newly gained knowledge of generations, explain some of the characteristics of the different generations. What will the next generation be like? Is there a difference depending on the country the student resides in? How will this knowledge help you in your job as a student personnel administrator?
