INSTRUCTIONS
One of the main functions of Public Health is to ensure that the population remains healthy, free
of disease or illness risks.
To meet this goal the population is kept under continuous surveillance. That is why, day by day
changes in public policy emerge directly affecting the health of citizens to transform their quality
of life.
This activity consists, precisely, in analyze directly how a community as part of the population
has been transformed because of Public Health implementations.
Of the assigned population each team group will develop:
1.
A demographic description of the community, emphasizing areas directly related
to Public Health:
a.
Environment (Ex: geographic location, housing, roads infrastructure,
public spaces, public buildings (condition and access), surroundings,
noise, etc)
b.
People (demographics stats, lifestyle behaviors, income, employments,
educational level, etc)
c.
Services (city, state or federal services, safety, entertainment or
recreational, transportation access, religious, etc.)
2.
Choose an area where the quality of life of citizens has been transformed due to
change in Public Health. Describe in detail this change and transformation
comparing or contrasting the before and after its evolution.
3.
The written work is a formal one and in APA style.
To obtain the demographic data you can use online data base through the library, county
or township administration buildings. You are free to use any source to gather the information
you need.
