Today, almost 75% of children and teens have digital media (Elana Pearl Ben-Joseph, 2016). That means almost every younger can touch social media however, social media isn’t perfect for younger. Violence and sex are two huge negative elements to younger. Otherwise, drugs, alcohol, and cigarette affect younger’ health. An average of 18 age American children will visit 200,000 violent acts on TV (Digital Media and Your Children and Teens, 2016). It is a terrible fact that is one of the strong reasons to censor the media.
Censorship is the protection of human rights. Bullying, racism, and harassment are three large issues of human rights. In 21 century, when the internet had popularized. On the other hand, censorship is made by the government, which means censorship can be a tool of the government to control people, such as limiting information, changing or ‘making’ the political news, and using the power for any convenience. Censorship is necessary for modern society. It built a safe world for us we cannot leave the censorship any more. In the future, the government should build more policies to support and fix some deficiencies of censorship.
